Naming my music magazine

The masthead of a magazine represents and reflects EVERYTHING that the magazine stands for. It took a great deal of care and consideration when it came to deciding the name of my alternative music magazine. From previous posts, it is clear which name I have chosen. I have decided to create a post explaining exactly why I have chosen this particular name.

FRANK

There are several reasons as to why I believe this name fits in perfectly with the style, content and etho's of my music magazine. Firstly, let us begin to define the term. To be frank, is to be honest and direct and that is what this magazine provides its readers; it's overt and outspoken opinion of contemporary alternative music. This also links in with idea of the 'modern woman' being able to do just that, without the previously attached stigma.

There is also an element of irony to the name as it is a traditional & masculine name for a male. This links in with the idea of the music industry being mainly male dominated. However this name is also very old, which links in with the idea that this value of musical male dominance is dated and so the name stands as a verbal landmark reminding everyone that women have conquered the music industry.
